Good Design Award

Good Design Award

The Marc Newson Unbreakable Drinkware range received a Good Design Award from the Australian International Design Awards’ judges.

Good Design Australia is an international design promotion organisation responsible for running the Australian International Design Awards, one of the oldest and most prestigious design awards in the world.

With a proud heritage dating back to the  Industrial Design Council of Australia (IDCA) established in 1958, the Australian International Design Awards is recognised by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) as Australia’s peak design endorsement program.

The Good Design Council is an advisory board for the Australian International Design Awards. The Council comprises a broad spectrum of designers and business people in Australia and internationally. It includes past Australian and international members of the Australian International Design Awards Jury as well as applicants and recipients of Australian International Design Awards. The core purpose of the Council is to advise Good Design Australia on the strategic direction of the Australian International Design Awards to ensure the program continues to align to the needs of the design and business sectors.

Powerhouse Museum Design Award and Selection

The Marc Newson Unbreakable Drinkware range has been selected to appear in the museum’s “Success and Innovation” gallery for one year.

Since 1992 the Powerhouse Museum has recognised excellence in Australian product design with its own Design Award and Selection as part of the annual Australian International Design Awards.

The Museum’s selection is made from the annual Australian International Design Awards finalists and the selection criteria include good design, innovation and the significance of a product to Australia’s material culture. Products must demonstrate innovation in design, technology or materials that are of real benefit to users. They must also show potential to become important in the lives of Australians, be significant to Australian industry or provide an opportunity for Australian design to be recognised in the global marketplace.
